We tendered to the San Blas Islands.  I took Photos of the Island that the cruise ship tender goes to, the one which has all the molas & other goods for sale (shown in most of the photos below). The Kuna Indians just use that to sell their goods, but don't live there. It is the island which most tourists see. Unless you take a special tour, you won't see the other islands.  The island definitely would not take more than an hour to circle (taking your time), & probably no more than 10 minutes (probably less) to walk to the back side from where you dock, or from side to side (a few hundred yards). Their islands seem to be close together, and relatively small.

The MSC Lirica provided free ice cold juice & ice cold water at the dock, but did not provide food.    We felt our time at the island was very peaceful & we treated it similar to a ship's private island (except for the lack of food).

After tendering in the morning & being on the island for several hours (& taking photos), Diane & her cousin Lorraine stayed on the island while Lorraine's husband, Ed, & I went back to the ship to get snorkeling gear, eat lunch, & bring back a couple of cheeseburgers from the dining room for Diane & Lorraine.  For the trip back to the island, I left my camera onboard as I expected to only be swimming on the beach or snorkeling.

After some time in the water, we elected to take one of the island tours ($10 each - just walk up to the dugouts nearby & ask). We didn't realize the man was going to be a guide & we didn't know it would be where he lived. The guide helped us into the dugout. It seemed fairly stable. They used an outboard to get us to a nearby island, where the guide introduced us to his Mother (matriarchal society) & his family, then showed us around the small island (mostly thatch covered buildings). The few thatch covered buildings in our photos of the main sales island are very similar to those we saw on our guide's island.  He pointed to a long thatch covered building & said it was their Congress. There was also a small hotel on the island, though it did not seem to be out of place.  There were a couple of different spots where you could buy a soda or beer, though they did not look in any way commercial.  We saw most of the small island.  These people are so friendly & pleasant.  We really enjoyed the tour.
