From staying overnight at the Embassy Suites in Almonte
Springs (above Orlando), we drove to Port Canaveral the next morning, and
arrived a few minutes before 11AM. First we were identified by Disney
employees, who checked our ID (drivers license) & made sure we were on the
manifest. The parking lot close to the terminal was mostly unused.
The one across the street was the one everyone was asked to use. My Cousin
Ed and I dropped off Diane and her cousin and luggage on the Terminal side
facing the street, & was directed to the parking lot across the street, where I
paid in advance, & received something to hang on our rear view mirror. We
walked back across the street to the Terminal, entered at the corner away from
the luggage pickup on the side, went thru security & went upstairs via
escalator.
Note that Port Canaveral is just outside of Cocoa Beach, so staying at a hotel
in Cocoa Beach would allow you to be very close to Port Canaveral in the
morning. Since it is right next to Cape Canaveral also, you might arrive a
day early and visit Cape Canaveral. We had done that in our previous
cruise on the Disney Magic, and wanted to do something different.
